Mangalore : The District in-charge Minister B Ramanath Rai directed the concerned officials to submit a report on the Dakshina Kannada District Administration Complex within next 10 days.
Speaking at the review meeting held at DC Office on October 15, Wednesday he said that the proposed complex will be established at Padil in 5.89 acres at the estimate cost of Rs 40 crore. The government has sanctioned a sum of Rs 23 crore for the project and kept funding flexible upto Rs 40 crore since the Udupi DC’s office was constructed at Manipal at the cost of Rs 35 crore.
The DC office will comprise of an auditorium with a seating capacity of 500 people and two halls on either sides of the auditorium for conducting various meetings.
Apart from it, a bank, a canteen, a branch of Mangalore One office, Drivers’ Rest room, bathrooms and a photocopy machine shop will also be constructed in the building allotting the parking provision to accommodate 500 cars.
In turn, DC suggested the authorities to reduce the seating capacity to 300 people and parking area could be minimized to 300 cars.
Rai said that government will not be able to grant Rs 60 crore and provide the grant of maximum of Rs 40 crore.
Speaking on the District Ranga Mandir, Rai said that the Rang Mandir will be constructed at the estimated cost of Rs 24 crore, of which Rs 9.6 crore will be provided by the state, Rs 3.2 crore by the local administration and Rs 14.4 crore by the Centre at the proposed Rang Mandir land after clearing the two PWD buildings which are present at the spot.
The Ranga Mandir will comprise an art gallery and Kannada and Culture Department in the ground floor, two mini halls for lectures and theatrical purposes in the first floor, a main air-conditioned auditorium in the first floor and a car parking area in the basement. It will also comprise of two amphitheatres with a seating capacity of 250 people each and water bodies in the front yard.
Rai said that this year Abbakka Utsav, will be held this year at Thumbay and dates are yet to be finalized. The two day programme will witness dramas, Yakshagana and release of audio CDs on Rani Abbakka.
Minister Khader said that the CM has already released Rs 40 lakh for the celebrations this year and suggested to hold on December 30 and 31 soon after the culmination of Karavali Utsav.
