Mangalore : DC Dr. Channappa Gowda said that around 6000 participants from 28 states, 5 SAARC nations, and 7 union territories will participate in the 17th National Youth Festival, which will be held in from January 12 – 16.
Speaking at the meeting held at DC Office on Dec 10, Saturday, he said that the festival will include 18 competitions, and the competitions will be held at venues across the city such as Korgappa Kalyana Mantapa, Devadiga Bhavan, Gokananateshwara Kalyana Mantapa, SDM Law College, Dr. T. M. A. Pai Convention Centre, and Scouts and Guides Bhavan.
He informed that the 7 non competitive events will be held at Sangha Niketan, Karavali Utsav Grounds, Kadri Park, Panambur Beach, Nehru Maidan, and Loyola Hall and star night events will be held at Mangala Stadium on Jan 13 – 15.
District-in-charge Minister Krishna J. Palemar said that the event will be inaugurated by President Prathiba Patel on Jan 12. The state government has sanctioned the amount of Rs 10 crore and the centre has released Rs 2 crore, he added.
Accommodation will be arranged at a wide range of lodges, college hostels, and guest houses all over Mangalore and food will be arranged at Dr. T. M. A. Pai Convention Centre.
