Mangalore : A total of 45 achievers from Dakshina Kannada were honoured with district-level Kannada Rajyotsava awards 2011 during the Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations convened at Nehru Maidan here on Tuesday, November 1, 2011.
District In-Charge Minister Krishna J Palemar inaugurated the function at the Nehru Maidan in the morning. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the state government has sanction the amount of Rs 85, 25,00, 000 for the present year for the development of rural region.
He also said that a total of 149 kilometer road coming under Vidhan Sabha constituency will be developed at the cost of Rs 45.45 crore.
The government has selected 33 villages under the Suvarna Rural Development third phase at the cost of Rs 31 crore. He also read out various developemtntal projects on the occasion.
Mr. Palemar also presented the Rajyotsava awards to those who have made tremendous contribution in various fields such as art, culture, Journalism, social work as like.
The district in-charge minister took the salute at the parade during the march past conducted by civil police, Traffic police, NCC, Scouts and Guides, Bharath Sevadal, Karnataka state reserve police, District armed reserve police and Home Guards, Naval Junior, Naval Senior, Road Safety Patrol and Police band.
Earlier to this, there was a procession from Ambedkar Circle to Nehru Maidan, which featured various tableaux

Road Safety Patrol and Guides received the first and second prize respectively for the best march past.
Deputy Speaker N Yogesh Bhat, MLAs U T Khader, Abhaychandra Jain, Deputy Commissioner Channappa Gowda, MP Nalin Kumar, Coastal Development Authority chairman B Nagaraj Shetty, Mayor Praveen and others were present.
