Mangalore : Deputy Commissioner N Prakash has said that any member of the general public having any information regarding drug trafficking can inform the authorities by calling 222807, , 9480802305 or 100.
Presiding over a meeting of officials of the district administration and police department he said the identity of the informers will be kept a secret. Prakash also aid the district administration was determined to root out the menace of drugs and added the officials of various departments would join hands in eradicating drug menace.
He said a meeting of PU and college principals would be convened at 12 pm on February 8 to discuss the drug menace and the measures to tackle it.
He said the excise department, district health and family welfare department, and education department also will join hands with the police in the endeavour of tackling drug menace and sought the support of parents of the students and NGOs. The meeting discussed in detail the need to keep a close watch on students, particularly those studying in pre university classes. City Corporation Commissioner, Dr Harish Kumar, also came up with some suggestions. DCP Mutturaya, said that police officers of the rank of DySP will take part in meetings in schools and colleges on the issue.
