Mangalore : The District Administration is set with the preparation for May 5 assembly elections in eight assembly constituencies, said Deputy Commissioner Harsh Gupta.
Speaking at the press meet held at DC Office on April 22, Tuesday, he said that the revised voters’ list contains 15,00,385 names of voters. When compared to the earlier list, there was large difference including a total of 62,140 additions and 23,414 deletions
DC also said that a total 1715 polling stations including 88 auxiliary booths will be set up for Assembly elections.
A total of 2296 voters who have registered their names for inclusion will be given with voter slips by the Booth Level Officers (BLO), but they have to produce other photo identification documents like passport, driving licence or other documents, he said.
He also said that Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) have issued showcase notices to 7 candidates and 1 TV channel with regard to paid news material.
The committee has issued three notices to Congress candidate of Mangalore South and Bantwal constituency, while one notice each to BJP and Congress candidate of Belthangady constituency.
A total of 175 additional EVMs have been given to different polling stations of the district, while EVMs will be re-tested in the presence of political parties and candidates on April 26.
