Mangaluru: The district administration will hold a revenue adalat on November 12 at the office of the Deputy Commissioner to resolve discrepancies in the record of rights to tenancy and crops (RTC), said district in-charge Minister U.T. Khader said here on Tuesday.

Speaking with presspersons, Mr. Khader said discrepancies in the RTC were causing problems in applying for conversion of land use in rural areas. There was no such problem in urban areas where the conversion was being done on the basis of urban property ownership record.

Mr. Khader said all issues related to the RTCs of rural areas will be addressed at the adalat. He said similar adalats will be held at the taluk headquarters too. A team comprising of Assistant Commissioner, tahsildar and surveyor has been formed for each taluk to address issues related to RTC within a period of four months. He said he was unaware of the progress made in the earlier campaign to clear discrepancies in the RTCs.

Mr. Khader said he would write to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs on the opposition by BJP legislators to upgrade the old abattoir at Kudroli in the city at a cost of ₹15 crore under Mangaluru Smart City Mission. “I will ask him to decide on the proposal made by Mangalore Smart City Ltd.”

Expressing his disappointment over the aspersions cast on him for suggesting the MSCL take up modernisation of abattoir, he said the suggestion was made with an intention to provide a hygienic place for slaughter. “The Board of MSCL approved my suggestion and proposed ₹15 crore,” he said.

On the allegation that he bypassed the council of Mangaluru City Corporation while making the suggestion, Mr. Khader said the MSCL Board comprising of the Mayor, the Mangaluru City Corporation Commissioner and four councillors among others has granted approval for his suggestion.

The Minister said he will shortly hold discussions with the Principal Secretary (Medical Education) regarding non-payment of subsidy to house surgeons and postgraduate doctors working in Government Wenlock Hospital.
