Mangalore : District Armed Reserve Police Office today under the aegis of the Mangalore Police Commissionerate and the DK District Police observed the Police Martyrs’ Day at Police ground on October 21, Friday.
On the occasion, all the 636 police martyrs, including 10 from Karnataka, were remembered for sacrificing their life to protect the public from Oct 21, 2010 to Oct 21, 2011.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Dr. Channappa Gowda said country rarely appreciates or understands the service of government officials. He urged the government too provide better facilities for policemen including shelter, health, and others.
Chief Guest Prof. T. C. Shivashankar Moorthy, the vice chancellor of Mangalore University, said that people are living peacefully just with the efforts of the police.
The police flag was hoisted, following 3 rounds of gun fire.
IGP of western range Alok Mohan; Seemanth Kumar Singh, the Mangalore police commissioner MLC Ganesh Karnik; SP Labhu Ram, Zilla Panchayath CEO Dr. K. N. Vijayaprakash, Additional SP Prabhakar, Ramadas Gowda, the KSRP commander; Nidarsh Hegde, the Home Guards commander and T. S. N. Moorthy, the vice president of NMPT were present.
