Mangalore : Shanker Shetty, National President of CHRC inaugurated the DK district branch of National Human Rights Committee in order to sensitize public on their rights. The function was held at Hotel Woodlands.
Speaking on the occasion he said the Human Rights Commission has been striving hard to protect human rights. He said there is rampant corruption which is one of the reasons for violation of human rights.
Narendra Nayak, noted HR activist and rationalist, who was the chief guest, said the society prefers to remain a mute spectator to human rights violation cases. We neither have the power to think or sensitize the society. There is a growing need t o fight against capitalist forces which are exploiting consumers, he said.
KS Mohan, Merlyn Martis, Jayalakshmi Hegde, Dayanand Shetty and others were present.
