Mangaluru : The district congress members staged a protest on October 2, Friday against the detention of Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi who were on way to Hathras to meet the victim’s family.

Addressing the protestors, senior party leader and former minister Ramanatha Rai said there was anarchy like situation in Uttar Pradesh and that a need has arisen for the nation to protect the hard earned freedom.

The Police who immediately rushed to the spot detained the protestors.

DCC Chief Harish Kumar, District Youth Congress President Mithun Rai, former MLC Ivan D’Souza, former mayor Shashidhar Hegde were among the many party workers and leaders who were detained by the police.
