Mangaluru : District Congress celebrated 97th birth anniversary of Indira Gandhi at  Congress office on November 19.

Floral tributes were paid to Gandhi’s portrait at district Congress office by District Congress president Ibrahim Kodijal and other Congress leaders.

District Congress President Ibrahim Kodijal  said, During her tenure as Prime Minister, she undertook number of historic decisions, which not only revolutionized the country but also changed the old-age opinion of the world community toward India “We cannot forget the work done by Indira Gandhi, he said.

She takes equal rights for all citizens and the need to reduce the government’s revenue deficit.She contributed many programmes like nationalisation of banks and Land Acquisition Act, he said.

Congress leaders Mayor Mahabala Marla , B A Mohideen, KPPCC Secretary Ivan D’Souza Spoke on the occasion.

M Shashidhar Hegde, deputy mayor, Kavitha, Vijaya Kumar Shetty, B H Khader, Abdul, Mamatha Gatti, Nagendra Kumar, Sudheer T K, Corporators and other congress leaders were also present.
