Puttur : District Congress President B Ramanath Rai has disqualified newly elected Puttur Town Municipal Council president Nellikatte Jagdish Shetty and five other members for violating the party rule during TMC presidential election.

Reportedly, Nellikkate Jagadish Shetty had contested the election as Congress rebel candidate against the Congress candidate H Mohammad Ali on September 30.

The other members who have been disqualified for anti-party move are Naveenchandra Nayak, Deeksha Pai, Seema Gangdhar, Rekha Yashodhar and Kamala Anand.

Speaking to the media, Jagadish Shetty said that he and other disqualified members are honest and always work for the Development of Puttur more than politics. He also said that the congress parties decision has not affected him in anyways.
