Mangalore : The Congress activists under the leadership of Dakshina Kannada District Congress will hold the ‘Shanthi Yatra’ from Mahatma Gandhi statue located near Mangalore City Corporation to DC Office on August 13, Monday at 4 pm, said Bantwal MLA Ramanath Rai.

He was speaking at the press meet held at District Congress office on August 10, Friday. He also said that padayatra is being held to create awareness among the people of the district and the government on the illegal moral policing taking place in the district. Large number of congress supporters will participate in the yatra.

He also said that the recent home stay attack by the members of Hindu Jagarana Vedike is being supported by the RSS and hence the moral police are increasing in the city.

Criticizing the statement given by HJV chief Jagadish Karanth, he said that even though he is trying to close the incident by claiming that the attackers were not the members of HJV, the people in the television saw it and they have been illegally misusing the situation and hitting the girls in the name of protecting Hindu culture, he said.

Congress members like Mithun Rai, Praveenchandra Alva, P V Mohan, Sadashiva Ullal, Vinay Raj, Umesh Devadiga, Chethan Kumar and T K Sudhir were present at the press meet.
