Mangalore : District Congress urged the government to shift office of deputy commissioner to Alape-Padil, in order to make space near the State bank circle.
Speaking at the press meet held on August 26, Tuesday, MLC Ivan D’Souza said that district in-charge minister Ramanath Rai, along with other ministers and MLAs of the party have identified the land measuring 5.89 acres for the proposed purpose in Alape-Padil.
Ivan said that, the state government has allotted Rs 25 crore to each districts in the budget and it has also released the released the amount of Rs 135 crore to establish separate DC offices in six districts.
He also said that the idea of new DC office will develop the outskirts of the city and more than 25 government offices will function under one roof.
Agreeing to the proposal of MLA J R Lobo, Ivan said that holiday on the Feast of Nativity which falls on September 8, is necessary since it is the family feast.
Congress leaders like Shashidhar Hegde, Ibrahim Kodijal, Mayor Mayabala Marla and others were present.
