Mangalore : Indian Red Cross Society launched District Disaster Response Team (DDRT) in city to mark the International Day for Disaster Management held at the Conference Hall of SDM College of Business Management on October 13, Monday.
The programme was organized by the DK Branch of Indian Red Cross Society in association with Youth Red Cross Units of SDM Law College and SDM Business Management College.
Speaking after inaugurating the Disaster Response Tools, Chief Fire Officer HS Varadarajan said that with the launch of Disaster Response Team, city fulfills its longstanding demand. He also assured that Fire Services Department will render its support and help at any time.
Additional DC B Sadashiva Prabhu, launched the DDRT and said that people of city need to be enlightened to tackle disasters and promised to help the team on behalf of District Administration.
The DDRT comprises members from Red Cross Society, Police Departments, Fire, Port, Railway, Revenue, MCC, Zilla Panchayat, Airport, Home Guards and other organisations.
Deputy Commandant of Home Guards V Purushottam, Indian Red Cross Society Chairman Prabhaker Shriyan , Nodal officer of Youth Red Cross unit Vinutha Rai and many others were present.
