Mangaluru : Dakshina Kannada the district administration celebrated the 64th Karnataka Rajyotsava at the Nehru Maidan on Thursday, November 1.
District in-charge minister Kota Srinivasa Poojary hoisted the flag and received guard of honour from the parade commander on the occasion.
Speaking after unfurling the flag minister Kota Srinivasa Poojary said, the new national education policy was promising for the development of Kannada language. The proposed new education policy will allow the implementation of primary education in Kannada at any educational institution in the state, the minister said.
He said that the Code of Conduct will be given next year as the district level Rajyotsava award will be given in the wake of the preferential election.
Kota informed that district Rajyotsava award will be presented to the achievers only after the model code of conduct is withdrawn. “ As the State Election Commission has already announced election for Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC), model code of conduct is in placed now. Hence, we have to abide by the guidelines and the awards will be presented next year,” he said.
Many school students were exhibited colorful cultural activities on the occasion.
