Mangaluru : District In-charge Minister B Ramanath Rai on Tuesday said that he would remove red beacon light from his official vehicle only after receiving orders in this regard from the state government.
He was reacting to media queries in this regard, following the precedent already set by Home Minister G Parameshwara, abiding by the orders of the Centre (although effective from May 1) during his recent visit to Chikkamagaluru.
Rai adduced at the confusion that prevailed after removing the red beacon light from chief minister’s vehicle recently. He clarified that, following this, he would wait for the orders, as there was no official intimation, except for the news that appeared in the media.
He also clarified that he is a law-abiding person, but refrained from expressing his opinion about the centre’s decision to ‘get rid of VVIP culture’ by removing red beacon lights.
