Mangalore: District in-charge Minister and State Minister for Forest and Ecology B Ramanatha Rai has instructed MCC officials to immediately prepare an action plan to construct a bus terminus at Pumpwell in the already acquired land.
Addressing the progress review meeting held at the MCC meeting hall in the city on February 10, Monday, the Minister said there is no point in delaying the project any further by merely holding discussions. He directed the officials to take up the work in the available 7.15 acre land. In case additional land is required, then steps have to be taken for acquisition of the same, he said.
Giving details of the project, MCC Commissioner Ajith Kumar Hegde said it has been a few years since land has been acquired for the bus terminus. The MCC has already earmarked Rs 3 crore for the purpose, he said and added a suitable decision need to be taken at the earliest.
JR Lobo, MLA of Mangalore South said the project should be implemented in a systematic way. Even corporators Mahabala Marla, Bhasker Moily, Sudhir Shetty, DK Ashok, Deepak Poojari, Shashidhar Hegde, Harinath, and others urged for the early implementation of the bus terminus project.
