Mangalore: It was a new kind of Diwali celebrated by natural forces in Mangalore on Monday night around 8-30PM when lighting flashes created burning lamps in the sky, and thunder claps reminded us of heavy cracker bursts for about an hour, with noises occasionally threatening to be that of “atom bomb” cracker bursts, and not of cloud claps.

People on the streets and near bus stops ran for cover, amidst sharp noises of rainfalls, thunder and lightning in creepers in the sky.

This was unexpected but brought down the daytime heat by a few degrees. Sleepers got up hurriedly Roads were cleaned, remained desolate, while trees had their daily baths, in as many days at sunset. The powerlines held on for half and hour and then died.

People in lodges cried out for inverters or generators in a closed atmosphere when  lights went out.
The unscasonal rain havoc could be an actual greeting for Diwali celebrations, starting Tuesday, October 25 in city. Happy Diwali to all.
