Mangaluru : More than two years after entire Dakshina Kannada observed bandh against Yettinahole diversion or Netravathi diversion project, it is likely to shut down for the second time on May 19 for the same cause.
Netravathi Rakshana Samyutka Samithi, an action committee against the project, has called for the “voluntary bandh” to prevail upon the government to drop the project.
Earlier, the district observed bandh when the foundation stone for the project was laid in Chikkaballapur on March 3, 2014.
Addressing media here on Friday, K. Vijaya Kumar Shetty, president of the samithi, said that ahead of the bandh, a procession would be taken out in the city on May 16 to urge the Chief Minister and Governor to drop the project. The procession would start from the Ambedkar Circle and end at the office of Deputy Commissioner.
He said that people of all religions and organisations would meet in taluks separately before May 6 to chalk out taluk-level agitations against the project.
