Mangalore: Angered by the state governor’s hasty letter sent through Raj Bhawan couriers to PM in New Delhi on Sunday, BJP leaders took to streets in protest on Tuesday morning and held a protest rally at the DCO gates Mangalore, demanding ouster of state Governor for his unconstitutional ways of terminating an elected government. BJP’s district Chief Padmanabha Kottari presided over the tumultuous rally of BJP workers and leaders.
Speaking on the occasion, Former minister B. Nagaraja Shetty accused the Governor HR Bhardwaj of joining the conspiracy hatched by Congress and JDS leaders in the state as organiser to over throw the majority Govt. of CM Yeddyurappa, or at least bring in Governor’s rule on some pretext pr other. Even when 10 MLAs out of 11 (Mysore MLA excepted) had supported the present CM and BJP rule in state, how can such a strong ruling party be defeated, he wondered. BJP came to power by people’s voting power only and will complete its full term of 5 years, whatever strategy is employed by the Governor or his yes-men in the opposition parties. If the Governor adopts unconstitutional means to replace the present (BJP) rule, people themselves will take to streets and re-establish BJP govt, he warned.
M. Jayarama Shetty, former MLA, Monappa Bhandary, Srikar Prabhu, Francis Monteiro, Dy. Mayor Geetha Nayak, Rajendra Kumar, Ms. Shailaja Bhat (DK ZP Chief) also spoke at the rally.
Nitish Kumar Fishermen’s Federation Chief welcomed the gathering.
