Mangalore : The DK District Co-operative milk Producers Union’s annual business stood at Rs 451 crore during the year 2012-13 thus registering a growth of 24 per cent.
Speaking to reports here on May 18, Saturday, Raviraj Hegde DK District Co-operative milk Producers Union’s President said the annual business of the Union was Rs 367 crores in 2011-12 with a profit of Rs 3.47 crore. During the year 2013-14 it aspires a annual business of Rs 555 crores, he said.
He said a direct incentive provided to milk producers during 2011-12 stood at Rs 3.55 crores. While the amount increased to Rs 5.5 crores in 2012-13. This year it has provide Rs 2 crores has grant for various dairy farming related activities.
He said in accordance to the demand steps have been taken to increase the cold storage capacity to 4 lakh litres.The ghee manufacturing capacity too has been increased to 4 tonnes from two tones.
He said during the year 2013-14, the Union proposes to introduce new products like cashew burfi, flavoured milk of banana and pineapple flavor and jamoon.
