Mangalore : The Kannada Sahitya Parishat (KSP), DK Dt, chapter, arranged a membership registration drive and released a poems collection “Hani Hani Ibbani” (Dew drops) at the Balmatta Ladies PU College auditorium today morning. The poems are written by Miss K. Shyamili.
The programme was inaugurated by Pradeep K. Kalkura, KSP chairman in DK Dt. He also initiated the registration proceedings by presenting a shield. Well known novelist and writer Sarah Aboobaker released the poems collection.
Speaking on the occasion, Pradeep Kalkura, a Tulu Ratna, stated that the Tuluvas had a multicultural history in DK, and we have to raise the level of self belief by using our language in literature and everyday life. Literature is never limited to intellectuals, it is part of folklore too; the whole society likes literature in Kannada and Tulu, he added.
The poetess, Kumari Shyamili belongs to a rustic family and she has made a garland of rural thoughts in her poems. As a student, her literary achievements are laudable, Kalkura informed.
Corporator Ranganath Kini presented the flag to the students in the gathering as a token of KSP. Ms. Elvira Philomena, Principal presided on the occasion. Ms Shyamala Yermal was the chief guest.
Lecturer Shambhavi welcomed the gathering.
