Mangalore : The DK Working Journalists’ Union and the Television Journalist Union organized a silent protest march from Clock Tower to DC Office on March 3, Saturday against the attack on journalists outside a Bangalore court yesterday.
The media members carried out the silent march tying black ribbon and holding black flags.
Addressing the protestors, Tharnath Kapikad, Bureau chief of Janasri channel said that the attacks on the journalists in Bangalore by the Lawyers are condemned. The people who are supposed to give information on the legal issues have taken law in their hand.
They have also attacked on the police personnel’s who were on their security duty. The unruly lawyers attacked mediapersons and pelted stones damaging OB vans, leaving at least 20 scribes and police personnel injured, which is violation of rule.
The media people have always supported the lawyers and others by giving publicity, but now the lawyers have attacked them and intervened in their duty.
They demanded the state government and CM Sadananda Gowda to take action against the unruly lawyers and provide protection to the journalists of the state.
P. B. Harish Rai, the president of the DKWJU, secretary Srinivas Nayak Indaje, Namma TV Director Shivasharan, Namma Kudla MD Leelaksh Karkera and may others participated in the protest.
