Mangalore : The DK Co-operative Milk Producers Union Limited (DKMUL), Mangalore will be providing free education for farmers’ children wishing to take up veterinary medicine or agriculture-related courses through Dairy Farmers’ Welfare Trust.
Informing this to reporters, Raviraj Hegde, President of DKMUL and Dairy Farmers’ Welfare Trust Raviraj Hegde said the step has been taken considering the shortage of veterinary doctors. He said the state was short of 750 veterinary doctors. He said educational fees of upto Rs 3 lakhs for each student will be funded by the welfare trust. If there are no candidates from children of farmers, then others will be considered, he added.
