Mangalore : H R Deshpande, District and Session court Judge spoke on the occasion of the Police Martyrs’ Day held on the Police Grounds at Pandeshwar on October 21, Thursday.
He said that the increase in the number of police personnel who die in duty indicates that the violence and crime in society is on the rise. The police officials work day and night to maintain peace in the city but still the protestors blame for their inefficiency, Every common people of the society must think police officials as human and not was servant he said.
Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh and Dr. Subramanyeshwar Rao, the superintendent of police, read the names of 792 police personnel who rendered thier lives in the past one year.
It is our duty to recall and honour the services rendered by police martyrs while on duty till their death, and we salute those brave souls who died as Martyrs in harness, declared City Police Chief Seemanth K. Singh after offering his tributes to the Policemen who died while on duty today, at the anniversary observances.
Joining him in offering flowers and honouring martyred policemen on the anniversary day this morning, SP – A.S. Rao felt that a temple should be built to offer daily tributes in flowers and flames to the souls of such police personnel in their fond remembrance.
IGP Alok Mohan, DCP R Ramesh and Muthuraya, MLA Yogesh Bhat, Capt Ganesh Karnik, ACP Amit Singh, MRPL DGM Lakshmi Kumaran and others were present.
