Mangaluru: “India has third largest army in the world. Youngsters of Dakshina Kannada also should join army in large numbers. Creating awareness regarding this is important,” said Alva’s educational foundation President Dr Mohan Alva.
After inaugurating ‘one evening with protectors of the nation’ organised by Buntara Yaane Nadavara Maathr Sangha, Bunts Hostel Shree Siddhivinayaka Foundation and Sarvajanika Shree Ganeshothsava Samiti on Saturday, he said that Everybody’s heart should beat for India and everyone should have respect towards their country.
“Number of youths joining army from DK is lesser when compared to other districts. Youth should be motivated and awareness should be created in order to increase the patriotism in youth,” he said.
He further said that none of the soldiers’ requests to respect him, but no one should cultivate the habit of disrespecting them.
More than 11 soldiers were felicitated on the occasion.
MLA Mohiudhin Bava, Meghanath Shetty, Kanchanur Somashekhar Shetty, L| commander G P Mascarrenhus and others were present.
