Mangalore : The members of the DK District Congress Committee offered flowers to the portrait of India’s sixth Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 68th Birth Anniversary at District Congress Office on August 20, 2012.
Speaking on the occasion, B. Ramanath Rai, Bantwal MLA and DKDCC president, said that Indians are indebted to Rajiv Gandhi for his extraordinary contributions to the country’s progress, especially in fields of information technology and communication.
They also celebrated the 97th birth anniversary of the former chief minister, Devaraj Urs and said that he was a congress leader and a social worker. The present government has not given seats to the backward castes, but the congress leaders from before given importance to backward caste, he said.
Later Sadashiva Ullal, the spokesperson of the Congress party handed over the party flag t Dharmendra Kumar, the new president of block congress.
Speaking on the occasion, Dharmendra Kumar said that leaders of the party have helped him to get the post and work for congress party. The congress party under the leadership of Ramanath Rai is doing good work, he said.
In the recent election, congress lost in small number, in the coming election we must gain the confidence of the people and come into power, he said.
