Mangalore : The Dakshina Kannada Co-operative Milk Producers Union Ltd, Kulshekar, Mangalore will organize ‘Nandini’ awareness Movement from Jan 22, Saturday.
The movement is being held as a part of Union’s Silber Jubilee Celebration.
Speaking at the press meet held at KMF on Jan 20, Thursday, Raviraj Hegde, president of Union, said that there is lack of milk produced in the presnt day. As per the population, there is necessity of 5 lakhs litre milk per day, but it only produces 3 lakhs litre.
He also said that in order to create awareness among the youth on the dairy farming and increase their interest in the field, the Union is organizing the programme. The school children will be given knowledge on dairy farming through the programme. Around 45000 students from 473 high schools from Dakshina Kannada and around 27000 students from 246 high schools from Udupi district will participate in the programme.
The organization will conduct the quiz contest on dairy farming and other topics and hold taluk level and district level competitions for three selected students from each school. 15 students from each taluk will get an opportunity to participate in the union level competition and the first, second and third prize will be awarded with the cash prize of Rs 1,500, Rs 1,200 and Rs 1000 respectively.
The quiz for the students from Karkala and Sullia Taluk will be held on Jan 22, Puttur TAkul on Jan 23, Mangalore City on Jan 24, Mangalore Rural and Belthangady on Jan 7, Udupi and Moodbidri on Jan 29, Kundapu on Jan 30 and Bantwal Taluk on Jan 31.
