Mangaluru : Dakshina Kannada Cooperative Milk Union Ltd. (DKMUL) will release small packets of peda and cashew burfi costing ₹10 each during the cooperative week celebrations this year. In addition, it will also release 100 gram and 500 gram packets of paneer on the occasion, according to its president Raviraj Hegde.
Addressing presspersons here on Thursday he said that the cooperative has plans to establish 10 more milk producers’ cooperative societies in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts and set up 10 bulk milk coolers. It has allocated ₹2.4 crore for the same. Now with 118 bulk milk coolers in the two districts its coverage stood at 80%. By establishing 10 more BMCs its coverage would go up to about 85%.
It has planned to purchase two vehicles exclusively for exhibiting and marketing the products of the cooperative. It has reserved ₹24 lakh for the purpose.
Mr. Hegde said that it procured about 4.37 lakh litres of milk from farmers daily during 2018-19.
He said that the union earned a net profit of ₹6.9 crore during 2018-19. Its total business stood at ₹815.66 crore. The board in its meeting on Thursday has recommended to announce 12% dividend and 25% bonus to its members. It is subjected to the approval of the annual general body meeting of the union scheduled on August 26.
It produced 31.77 lakh litres of ‘Trupti’ brand milk and sold it in Karnataka, Kerala and Maharashtra.
Mr. Hegde said that the union released to the market its ‘suvasita’ milk in five flavours.
