Mangalore : ‘Kannada Press Day’ was organized by Dakshina Kannada Working Journalist’s Union and Mangalore Press Club was held at Press Club on July 1, Monday.
Dr. U.B. Rajalaxmi, Executive editor of Taranga weekly inaugurated the programme and caricature exhibition of cartoonist artistes.
Speaking on the occasion, she said that today girld are working almost in all the fields except in journalism due to the night working restriction. But as the years goes on many girls to enter into the field of journalism.
She said that he freelance journalism is also developing and hence the workshop must be organized for the young journalist because readers are expecting more from the newspapers they are reading.
Lokesh Kayarga, News Editor of Vijaya Karnataka delivered the lecture on ‘Changing trends of Media’ and said that every state celebrate press day on the day of thier first news papers came into existence.
The news will survive since it is still trying to give some dedicated news for particular group which cannot be given by Kannada web portal. Earlier people used to wait for the newspapers to get the infotainment but now the TV has made it easy and people do not read the whole news and just read the headlines, he said.
