Mangaluru : Ivan D’Souza, MLC, asked the former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar not to speak in a demeaning way about Chief Minister Siddaramiah.
Talking to presspersons here on Thursday, Mr. D’Souza said that it was unbecoming of Mr. Shettar to call Mr. Siddaramaiah as “Majavadi” (a person who loves partying). “He can criticise Siddaramaiah’s works and implementation of programmes but cannot target him personally. We are really hurt over the language used by Mr. Shettar. He should seek public apology for using such words,” Mr. D’Souza said.
Mr. D’Souza said that within the available resources and constraints, the Congress government had implemented programmes for the welfare of poor and the oppressed.
The State has performed well in implementing the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act and it was ranked third in the implementation of the project.
The State had completely used Rs. 35,766 crore allocated for 2015-16. The Centre has reduced the allocation by Rs. 5,000 crore for the current financial year by granting Rs. 30,274 crore.
Mr. D’Souza said that Chief Minister has personally toured the drought hit districts of the state and asked the Centre to release Rs. 12,345 crore.
