Udupi: MP Shobha Karandlaje has urged the state government to hand over the suicide cases of DySPs M K Ganapathi’s and Kallappa Handibag to the CBI for investigation. Bengaluru Development Minister K J George, who has been named by DySP Ganapathi before commiting suicide, should tender resignation to his post, she demanded.
Speaking to media here on Sunday, she said the state government handed over the case to the CBI after destroying the evidence in IAS Officer D K Ravi’s suicide case. As a result, the investigation could not be completed. The name of Minister George was also heard in Ravi’s case, she charged.
“The law and order has collapsed in the state. The officials are suppressed by the government and it has failed to act when IAS Officer Rashmi was manhandled,” she claimed.
Karandlaje asked why have the police failed to arrest Mysuru ZP former president Mari Gowda who is facing charges of intimidating DC C Shikha. Congress leaders are said to have knocked at the doors of Mandya DC Ajay Nagabushan, husband of Shikha, with a request to mediate and settle for a compromise with Shikha, she charged.
“Karnataka Pradesh Mahila Congress President Laxmi Hebbalkar is said to have tried to use her position to exert pressure on a police officer to release trucks seized for transporting sand. This is an evidence for sand mafia functioning in the state. The Congress MLAs and minister’s children are involved in sand mafia. The exchequer has incurred a loss of Rs 7,000 crore due to sand mafia,” she claimed.
