Kasargod : Karnataka born Dr A Srinivas, took charge as the new Superintendent of Police (SP) of Kasargod district on Tuesday, February 25.

Dr Srinivas originally hails from Soraba in Shivamogga. His father Ashok, a small-time trader in Shigga in Sorab taluk of Shivamogga district, and Radha Bai, a government higher primary school-teacher. An MBBS graduate he had passed the UPSC exam with 149th rank.

Dr Srinivas earlier served as the SP of Pathanamthitta for eight months. He replaces Thomson Jose IPS, who has been transferred to the police academy in Thrissur.

He said, that he will not allow anti-social elements that incite clashes and disrupt peace and harmony in the region and assured stringent action against goondas in Uppala and Kumble.

Further he said, Pathanamthitta district type people-friendly policing which is devoid of religion and politics, will be introduced even in Kasargod on trial basis.
