Udupi: State Congress leader Dr. G.P Parameshwara in a talk with media on Monday demanded from the BJP government a clear reply on Lokayukta report whether it is accepted or not with suitable reasons for the answer.
The report had charged 187 officials of corrupt ways, but the government did not take any action against even one among them.
He wanted to know what future action would the Government take on the Lokayukta bulky report.
So far he added the Govt. had failed to take any action on Hegde’s report.
Dr. G.P. Pointed out that the Gowda govt was not at all hurry to select a new Lok Ayukta, much less appoint him as there were no takers.
Yet the Govt. has to justify why it had taken no steps to appoint a clean Lokayukta in 6 months.
He lashed out at CM that his Govt. was deliberately the suitable appointment of an active Lokayukta as it was afraid of enquiries on illegal mining issues that fall out like skeletons from a cupboard.
GP asked Gowda to tell him about funds assured to religious institution headed by monks. The former CM had given away Rs 397 crores during 3 years of tenure.
GP wanted a debate on any payment above Rs 2 crores to a Math or temple, with financial approval.
While telling the reporters about an amount of Rs 4, 250 crores had been released by Central Govt. to Karnataka in 4 years (2008-12) to cover the natural calamity relief payments he said the BJP govt. had released only Rs 250 crores, and the balance remained unspent.
The Govt he ruled should work on a war footing to tackle drought conditions in 123 taluks of Karnataka, now or never.
Dr. GP pointed to the BJP candidate (Sunil Kumar) in Udupi by poll and said he (SK) had an unlawful background with the suspicious death of Padmapriya wife of Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat, Datta Peetha row, and his (SK) involvement in Bajrang Dal attacks.
The KPCC chairman (Dr. GP) asked voter to make a comparative study of candidate and vote for the best among them as non- corrupt and people friendly.
