Belthangady: No civilization has known solar power ramifications and uses so much in history as Indians over thousands of years. The Sun was worshiped by our ancestors, as a God of immense power. This tradition grew into modern times by scientific tests. The Sun, Moon and 9 planets are central to space and astronomy. However, one hopes that solar power usage is not limited to large cities only but the knowledge of solar benefits should reach towns and villages too. It is then that all Indians feel it’s beneficial strength, said Dr. Virendra Heggade, while inaugurating a solar power unit in Dharmasthala with America collaboration today. Cleaning water, re-charging mobile phones and cell lighting facilities are contained in the unit now functioning in Dharmasthala.
Cellco Chief Harish Hande, hoped that the information on solar power usage would reach all parts of the land through the pilgrims now coming to Dharmasthala. Conservationist Dennis D’Sa and senior researcher Anand Narayan among others were present on the occasion.
