Dharmasthala : Dr D Veerendra Hegagde, Dharmadhikari, Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala honoured Environmentalist Saluramarada Thimakka during her visit to Sri Manjunatheshwara Temple, Dharmasthala.
It is learnt that renowned environmental activist Thimakka, is a native of Hullikal in the Magadi taluk of Ramanagar district in Karnataka.
He was known for her work in planting 284 banyan trees along a four-kilometre road of highway.
Thimmakka is a recipient of National Citizen’s Award of India. Apart from it, a US environmental organization also named education centre as Thimmakka’s Resources for Environmental Education for her contribution to the environment.
Dr Heggade’s wife, Hemavathi Heggade was also present on the occasion.
