Mangaluru: Tulu literary awards-2015 has been announced. Bengaluru’s Dr Indira Hegde has been chosen for honorary award for Tulu literature and Koti Parava and Betha Kunhi are also chosen for honorary awards.
Addressing the media conference on Saturday, Tulu Academy President Janaki Brahmavar said that in book award category Vasanthi Shetty Brahmavar’s ‘Gutthillada Jaald’, in poem category ‘Boolya’ written by Chennappa Alike and in drama category the award will be given to Chandrahas Suvarna for ‘Gaala’ drama.
“The venue and date for the award presentation ceremony is yet to be decided. Most probably it will be held in October. Honorary award will contain Rs 50000 cash prize, memento and certificate and book award will have Rs 25000 cash prize, memento and certificate,” she said.
She further said that Karnataka and Kerala Tulu literary academy committee will meet Union Home Minister to discuss regarding inclusion of Tulu in 8th schedule of Indian constitution.
“A detailed memorandum will be submitted to union Home Minister. Tulu Wikipedia, optional Tulu classes in schools and other developments will be stressed during the visit. Dr Veerendra Heggade will lead the delegation,” she added.
Academy Registrar Chandrahas Rai, Members Vedavati, D M Kulal, K T Vishwanath, Raghu Idkidu and others were present.
