Mangalore : Dr M V Shetty College of Nursing, Mangalore celebrated the Silver Jubilee and organized a National Conference at St Sebastian Platinum Jubilee Auditorium of Bendur on October 21, Friday.
Speaking after inaugurating the national conference B N Muninarayanappa , registrar, Karnataka State Nursing Council, Bangalore recalled the contribution of Dr M V Shetty College in the field of Nursing.
Dr Ramgopal Shetty, secretary of Dr M V Shetty Memorial Trust, Mangalore released the Silver Jubilee emblem of the college.
Delivering the key note address on the occasion, Dr Sriprakash K S , vice chancellor, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore said that the silver jubilee celebration is the milestone in the history of institution for its leadership qualities.
He also said that the Alumnus of the college is serving the people in different parts of the world as faculties, nurses and others.
He said that recently, Rajiv Gandhi University is receiving lot of complaints regarding the harassment of students by the companies. Students are even forced to work in the same institution for 2 to 3 years after receiving their signature in a bond. This is not a healthy practice. If such complaints are received against the nursing college coming under its jurisdiction, then the University will take strict action against such institution and cancel the license of the college. This process will continue to the upcoming nursing colleges too, he added.

College trustee Hima Urmila Shetty, Prof. Chandrashekar Shetty, the administration officer of the college; and academicians Ranjit Shetty were present on the dais.
