Mangalore : Dr. M. Veerappa Moily, the union minister for corporate affairs inaugurated ‘Karnataka: Export Vision- 2020’ at Dr. T. M. A. Pai Convention Centre on Feb 13 Monday.
The event was organized by the Federation of Indian Export Organizations (southern region) in collaboration with the Exporters’ Convention, Kanara Chambers of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), and Mangalore Airport.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that the traditional export of Mangalore has to be rejuvenated. India is having the ambition to reach 4% of the share by 2020. He also said that making business in India is difficult.
He also said that the corporate meet was started in January, now the capital market has pick up and we need to rejuvenate our self. According to the survey conducted, the report shows that 90 percent of big corporate body in foreign countries will brighten our country.
He said that India will be World’s largest economy in 2039 and will be the topmost in GDP level compared to China. Adding he said that the foreign trade policy envisages doubling of India’s share of global exports by 2020.
Dr. Moily said that Mangalore holds immense opportunity for high trade and industry and is second only to Mumbai. Speaking about ports, he said that Mangalore has plenty of potential for export with its excellent highway connectivity and SEZ.
Mangalore will be the gateway for commercial capital of India. We must energize our minds to empower our people, so that they can be wealth creator. Further each district and state must have an RND Centre to know details of export. There is also need of innovation export cell to be established; hence it is necessary to work on export potential.
Delivering the keynote address Dr. Anup K. Pujari, IAS, DGFT, Government of India, said that any state going from one to another will jump from 1-2 percent without changing any figure. Unless innovation and efficiency, one cannot produce low cost productivity.
Walter D’Souza, the chairman of the Federation of Indian Export Organizations, welcomed the guests and gathering.
Deputy Speaker N Yogish Bhat, MLA K Abhayachandra Jain, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, IOB Chairman M. Narendra, and FIEO President Padmashree Rafeeque Ahmed were the guests of honor.
KCCI President G. Mohandas Nayak, Organizing Committee Coordinator Thejomaya, NMPT Chairman P. Tamil Vanan, M. R. Vasudev, was present on the dais.
The activists of Karnataka Janabhivriddhi Vedike staged a protest against the Export Vision in front of TMA Pai Convention hall.
Addressing the protestors, they said that the export vision 2020 will kill the land lords of agricultural farms. The farmers get cheated because of these proposed plans.
