Mangaluru : IPS officer Dr P S Harsha IPS officer assumed office of Police Commissioner Mangaluru city on Friday, August 9.
After Police Commissioner Sandeep Patil was transferred, Dr P S Harsha was appointed the police commissioner of the city in the place of Dr Subrahmanyeshwar Rao.
In an earlier stint Dr P S Harsha, was Puttur ASP. In 2017-18 he was Information Department commissioner
Dr Harsha IPS is a from city of Chitradurga. After becoming a doctor by learning, he had passion for the profession of police officer, and is a 2004 batch IPS officer who chose to immediately pursue the same after graduating in MBBS.
He loves nature and believes in living it up and as a traveller likes Western Ghats, his interest is in wild life conservation.
As ASP he has also served in Gulbarga and even while getting trained he saw to it that crime dropped to the lowest.ASP Puttur, he was instrumental in bring down communal tensions. He was SP of Tumakuru, he was awarded for his significant work won Chief Ministers’ award for better method of policing and Police Welfare and innovative methods of policing.
He was DCP Bengaluru in 3 zones, South East, North east and East and he was awarded Chief Ministers’ Medal in 2016 for his contribution for making Bangalore city much safer.
He has also been managing director of Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation and his aim was to see Karnataka as destination of global tourism.
He made initiative for people friendly communication by government, during his stint as commissioner, Information and Public Relations. As director (security and vigilance) of KSRTC, new age mobility solutions and making public transport more attractive to help in decongestion of roads.
