Udupi : Dr. Satheesha Nayak B, Alambi, Professor of Anatomy at the Department of Basic Medical Sciences, MAHE, has bagged the “Excellence in Academics and Teaching Award” for the academic year 2023-24. He received this award during the College Day and Awards ceremony of Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Manipal, on September 3, 2024.
Dr. Nayak has received the “Good Teacher” award from MAHE, several times before this also. He has also received several awards for the audiovisual teaching/learning aids prepared by him. He has been featured consistently in the Stanford list of top 2% scientists in both annual and career categories. He is the only all-time Indian Anatomists to be featured in both categories of this list. He has published more than 400 scientific articles in various reputed international journals and has also bagged several university and state level gold medals for excellence in research. He is a member of the editorial board and board of reviewers of many reputed international journals. For his critical reviews of scientific articles, he has received the “Certified Sentinel of Science” award from PUBLONS.
Dr. Nayak’s Swachh Bharath activities have been recognized by the govt of India and the same has been published in the Swachh Bharath Portal of govt of India. He has also won the “Water heroes of India” contest organized by the government of India for recognizing the efforts on conserving clean water.
His holds the distinction of growing the tallest tapioca plant in the world, for which his name has entered India Book of Records and Limca Book of Records.
Dr. Nayak is also an excellent Yakshagana artist and is a Carnatic classical musician who has given several stage performances in Udupi District. He is also a prolific writer on contemporary issues and has published many articles on educational and social issues in the regional Kannada newspapers.
Dr. Nayak is the Alumnus of Govt Higher Primary School 80 Badagabettu, Parkala High School, Manipal Junior College, Mahatma Gandhi Memorial College (MGM) Udupi and KMC Manipal.
