Mangalore : New superintendent of police of Dakshina Kannada district Dr Sharanappa Shivanand Dhage (IPS) took charge in his office here on Wednesday March 5. Outgoing SP Shantanu Sinha handed over charge to the newly appointed SP.
SP Shantanu Sinha, has been transferred to Bangalore. He was posted to DK on Sep 30, 2013. He was transferred in five months.
Sharanappa Shivanand Dhage, a 2009 batch IPS officer, has served as SP of Gadag district. He has also served an ASP at Shimoga and Sagar and SI at Tumkur district.
Sharanappa S.D. was born in Kajooru of Alanda Taluk, Gulbarga. He graduated in B.Sc (Agriculture) from Raichur and completed his post graduation from Coimbatore Agricultural University. He then earned his doctorate in genetics from Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI).
Speaking to the media Sharanappa Shivanand Dhage said that, there is peace and law and order to be protected to the up-coming Lok Sabha election which is scheduled in Karnataka on April 17, he said that Code of Conducted for the Lok Sabha elections will be followed.
A friendly environment between police and the public has to be created. Naxalism is another burning issue. Emphasis will be laid on uprooting Naxalism in the district,” he said.
