Mangalore: Retired professor of Mysore University, Dr. T. V. Venkatachala Shastry inaugurated a 2-day national-level research workshop on Kannada language held at Sharada Vidyalaya on July 30, Saturday.
The event was organized by the DK and Bangalore Kannada Sahitya Parishad.
Speaking after inaugurating the event, he said that not even 10 percent of the prominent works in Kannada language have been analyzed although Kannada literature is being researched from two centuries.
He regretted that Kannada youth are forgetting the rich cultural tradition of Kannada, he stressed the need to rejuvenate Kannada culture.
Sharada Educational Trust President Prof. M. B. Puranik, Harikrishna Punarooru, the former president of the Karnataka State Kannada Sahitya Parishad; Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, the president of the DK District Kannada Sahitya Parishad; P. N. Mayya, the principal of Sharada College; and Dr. Shrinath, the honorary secretary of Kannada Sahitya Parishad, were also present.
