Mangalore: Recalling Ambedkar’s fight for liberation of women in society from being treated only sex objects and working maids at home, Dr. Dharma who is the director of Gandhi Study Centre in Mangalore University released a book, titled in Kannada as the Need for Women’s Emancipation and challenges’, written by Dr. Sulochana Narayan, his disciple while writing the thesis, as stipulated by this conditions (research on Ambedkar and writing to be in Kannada only).
He informed that unlike in pages of history for centuries, women were not slaves at home now, but had secured voting rights, equality, and recognition among men in society.
He added that Sulochana’s research thesis would be the voice for silent working women, who had no rights.
She will continue to write books every year, useful to thinking students at the MU, Dr. Dharma hoped.
Dr. Sulochana’s second book ‘Nitya dodalu’ (Every day work) was released by Hosa Digant daily’s co-editor, Poornima, who regretted that pure Kannada writers were few and for between, as English is mixed Kannada expression
Dr. Dharma was felicitated on the occasion. Prof. Sudha welcomed the gathering. Dr. Sulochana thanked. Dr Meenakshi compared
