Mangalore : Jagannath Rao Joshi Soudha was the venue for today’s celebration of Birthday of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee in the Port City, at 10-30 am A Vana Mahotsava (Tree Planting) ceremony was arranged on the occasion.
DK BJP Chairman and ex-MLA Padmanabha Kottari speaking on the occasion stressed upon the qualities of head and heart of Syama Prasadji which could inspire the present generation of youth in the country. He believed in constructing a national political party and founded the Jan Sangh, he added. We need more volunteers on national service in BJP, of which Jan Sangh was the fore – runner, Kottari said.
The ideals of Syama Prasadji grew large and wide like a tall tree and we live in its shade today. Let us build our present political party on the lines of ideals and dreams set out by him, Kottari said.
Kumble Sunder Rao, Chairman of Yakshagana Academy and ex-MLA spoke at length on the great personality of S. P. Mookerjee who also built all India Hindu Mahasabha.
Mangalore MP Nalin Kumar Kateelu, Kumble Sunder Rao, Chandrahas Ullal and Padmanabha Kottari joined in the tree-planting activity after the meeting.
Srikar Prabhu, Sharat Chandra Shetty, and other party dignitaries were present.
District BJP general secretary Devdas Shetty conducted the birthday programme. Nitin Kumar thanked the gathering.
