Banglore: The state Government has dismissed B.R. Niranjan, Director of Distant Education(by correspondence) on the charge that he has postponed the annual examinations, for a third time, of its students who are mostly employed. The examination was already postponed twice, in view of mass copying in halls.
Having ordered the director’s removal, higher education minister Dr. V S Acharya has called for another person to be named for the post by Registrar of Bangalore University.
The decision is open to doubt as one-sided, since Niranjan was not given a show-cause notice. Some people even say there is a political vendetta behind Dr. Acharya’s stance.
The Sri Rama Sena activists had accused Niranjan of Corrupt methods, and demonstrated against him earlier. There was a charge against him that he took bribes to give pass marks illegally.
The minister has taken the extreme step in the issue under grim circumstances.
