Udupi: The Dharmadhikari of Sri Dharmasthala Kshetra, Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade was weighed in 80 kgs of five and ten Rupee coins in front of Lord Krishna and Mukhya Prana (Hanuma) idols of Sree Krishna Math in Udupi on Wednesday, Nov. 3. Paryaya Swami of Shirur Math, Sri Lakmivara Teertha Swamiji was present on the occasion. He felicitated the Heggade later in Rajangana in a public function, where he called the Heggade as Dharmaraya of modern era in view of his emphasis on Dharma in every walk of life.
In his reply to the public felicitation, the Heggade told the people present that political leaders had failed in fulfilling the aspirations of the people who were now turning to religious leaders increasingly to shape the country’s future under able guidance.
MLAs of Udupi and Mulky, Anantrama Upadhya of Kadiyali Temple, L.N Asranna of Kateelu, Ambatanaya Mudradi and Pradeep Kalkura of KSP, Pramod Madhwaraj and Bhuvanendra Kidiyur were present. P. Latavya Acharya, Diwan of Sri Krishna Math welcomed the dignitaries.
