Bantwal: “Bunts have given importance to gender equity and education, so that they have achieved progress in the society as well as financially. They have set model norms for other communities also,” said CM Siddaramaiah.
He was speaking at the inaugural function of Buntara Sabha Bhavana constructed at Tumbe Valavoor at B C Road on Sunday.
“Bunts are very much known for their kind heartedness as many of the community people are very much enthusiastic in providing financial support for good cause. They should extend this to other communities also, so that everyone will be treated equally. I congratulate Bunts community for building a huge community hall and they have showed their unity through this,” he said.
He further said that he hopes that their contributions are not limited to the single community. They should take others with them on the path of progress and achievement.
After inaugurating the community hall Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade said that Bunts are known as the broad minded people, they never depicted themselves as a narrow minded people. Their ancestors were Jains and later they converted as Bunts.
“Though many people belonging to Bunts community have settled in big cities like Mumbai and others they have not forgotten their mother land. They have upheld the pride of Tulu Nadu and their state,” he added.
District in-charge Minister Ramanath Rai, Minister U T Khader, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLAs Abhaychandra Jain, Mohiudhin Bava, Shakunthala Shetty, J R Lobo, MLC Ivan D’Souza, President of Buntara Yaane Nadavara Matr Sangha Ajith Kumar Maladi and others were present.
