Mangaluru : Directorate Of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) Mangalore have busted another modus operandi of gold smuggling at Mangalore International Airport on Tuesday, Feb 3.
Officials have seized five gold bars totally weighing 583 gms valued at Rs. 16.33 lakhs concealed in the rectum of a passenger named Kanimkundil Mohammed Sameer of Udma, Kasargod District, who arrived from Dubai by Air India Express flight AI 814.
It is said, Mohammed Sameer has concealed gold biscuits inside his rectum and he was produced before the Court seeking permission to screen his body for detection of the gold biscuits. He was screened by the authorities of Wenlock Hospital, Mangalore which indicated concealment of metal pieces in his rectum.
After examination of his body five gold biscuits totally weighing 583.gms valued about Rs.16,33,520 had recovered.
Officials said, K. M. Sameer is a part of a smuggling gang operating between Kasargod in Kerala and Dubai (UAE).
Further investigation is in on.
