Udupi : On lines with the traffic police in Mangalore, even the traffic police in the temple town of Udupi, have initiated the task of removing the tinted films from vehicles which have fixed tinted glasses beyond the specifications fixed by the Supreme Court.
A number of vehicles were stopped by the cops and the sun films removed. Udupi DySP Prabhudev Mane has even warned that if vehicles were still found with tinted glasses after the last day of May 31, then they will be liable for a penalty of Rs 300. Drivers who are found to still having tinted glasses in their vehicles despite warnings, can even be imprisoned for contempt of court, he informed.
He also said that the Supreme Court ruling banning tinted glasses in vehicles was a welcome development in the wake of several illegal activities taking place inside vehicles under the cover of tinted glasses.
